Class 68(1) [Also in Group XXX] A tool, e.g. scoop, grader blade or material handling device, is so supported at the outer end 23a of a boom 20, 23, 23a as to be rotatable about an axis transverse of, as well as about the longitudinal axis of the boom. The tool is pivotally supparted in ears 34 secured to the front of a tube 31 rotatably supported in a bearing 30 in the outer portion- 23a of the boom, which may be telescopic. A piston-cylinder motor 41, 49 is pivotally connected to a plate 39 closing the rear end of the tube and the tool to rotate the tool in the ears 34. The tube 31 can be rotated by a fluid actuated rotary motor secured to and within the outer section of the boom and coupled to the plate 39 by a shaft drive The rotary motor can be replaced by a piston-cylinder motor secured to the outside of the outer boom section and projecting into the section to be coupled by a bell-crank lever to the shaft of which four forms are described. |
