At any one of a number of predetermined stages in the operation of equipment which scans subscribers' lines to detect calling condition, if a register is in a condition to perform a marking operation the scanning operation of the said equipment is stopped and the said equipment conditions the register to enable it to perform the marking operation. The description and drawings are identical with those of Specification 814,597 but the claims differ. The prior state of the art is represented by references to Specifications 728,382 and 735,635.
