Zusammenfassung:807,906. Blind riveting. HUCK MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 24, 1957 [April 6, 1956], No. 2587/57. Class 83 (4). [Also in Group XXV] A blind rivet comprises a pin 7, Fig. 1, with a head 8 and a shank including a locking-groove 13 and break-neck 14, a filler sleeve 20 and an expanding sleeve 18 surrounding the pin with sleeve 18 adjacent the head 8. Sleeve 20 has a head 211 at its end remote from head 8 containing a space 22, and a locking collar 24 adapted to be forced into said space when the groove 13 and the space are aligned. To set the rivet, the pin is pulled, by a device engaging serrations 17, causing sleeve 18 to engage the undercut surface 9 of the head 8 and to expand over the tapered end of sleeve 20 into engagement with, e.g., the face of a panel 4 which is being joined by the rivet to a panel 5. Continued pulling then shears the flange 25 from collar 24, forces the collar into space 22 and breaks the pin at neck 13, as shown in Fig. 5. The head 211 may be either raised or countersunk. In a modification the end 34, Fig. 8, of sleeve 33 remote from head 8 has a reduced outside diameter, so that when the rivet is set the sleeve is deformed as shown. The outer wall of sleeve 20 may be grooved to receive the tip of end 34. In another arrangement the locking groove has an annular notch adjacent one end. Specification 629,098, [Group XXV], is referred to.
