Zusammenfassung: | 798,602. Laminates. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E.I. Jan. 16, 1956 [Jan. 27, 1955], No. 1467/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 140. The invention comprises an article comprising a substrate to which a neoprene-coated surface of a cured elastomeric film is adhered, said elastomeric film material consisting essentially of butyl rubber, chlorosulphonated polyethylene, butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer, a polyurethane or natural rubber. " Butyl rubber " is defined as a copolymer of 99-85 parts isobutylene and 1-15 parts of isoprene.- Chlorosulphonated polyethylenes are materials as disclosed in Specification 542,414, [Group IV]. Copolymers of butadiene and acrylonitrile comprise copolymers of butadiene and methylbutadiene with acrylonitrile and methacrylonitrile containing at least 60 per cent of the conjugated diolefin. The term " polyurethane " denotes a polymeric elastomer obtained by reacting a polyalkylene ether glycol of molecular weight at least 750 and an organic diisocyanate in the presence of a chain extender containing active hydrogen atoms such as water or hydrogen sulphide. The base film is coated with the neoprene prior to being cured, and preferably the neoprene composition is such that it will not be completely cured during the curing process. The neoprene coating is then coated with a neoprene adhesive composition and the treated surface stuck on to another surface, e.g. a metal such as iron, aluminium, zinc, tin or brass, or on to wood, paper, textile fabrics of natural or synthetic fibres and plastic surfaces, or on to itself. In an example a butyl rubber elastomeric film is coated on one side with a neoprene composition and cured, the curing additives in the coating being insufficient in amount to cure the neoprene completely. The neoprene surface was then coated with an adhesive comprising the neoprene coating used to coat the base sheet, zinc oxide, litharge and a butyraldehydemonobutylamine condensation product. The assembly was adhered to a metal surface as well as to itself. Specification 796,041, [Group IV (a)], also is referred to. |
