Zusammenfassung: | 811,457. Moulding refractory articles. PITTSBURGH PLATE GLASS CO. March 19, 1956. No. 8470/56. Class 87(2). A refractory body, e.g. a drawbar for forming glass sheets, is moulded by pouring a clay mix into a mould having a plaster of Paris lining and allowing the mix to become rigid whilst retarding evaporation from the top surface by a wet blanket of burlap and paper. After drying for four days, side wall parts 35 and 39 of the mould are removed, and after twelve to eighteen days the trough section 21 of the mould is removed. After forty to sixty days, any further moisture may be removed by heating, and the dried body is fired. The mould consists of base sections 20, and the trough section 21 held together by wedges 30, and upper sections 35 and 39 surrounded by angle irons 41. Additional plaster blocks 46 shape the ends of the body. |
