Class 38(5) Movable contact springs such as shown in Figs. 1 and 3 are clamped in a pile-up by means of their portions 1c, are supported in the middle of their limbs 1a by an adjustable slide 5 and pivot about this support, when a lifting pin 4 moves their righthand ends by means of teeth 3, to bring their lefthand ends into engagement with fixed contacts 10. The lifting pin 4 may be actuated as shown by the armature 7 of a relay and further adjustment is provided by the screw 17 and the screw 12 which when loosened allows the core 8a to be moved relatively to the yoke 6. In a modification the slide 5 grips both the fixed and the movable contact springs and the armature moves vertically instead of horizontally.
