Manufacture of photographic color images

2 - Carbethoxymethyl - 4 - quinazoline is prepared by refluxing together ethyl cyanacetate imino ethyl ether and anthranilic acid in ethyl alcohol. 2 - Carbethoxy - 7 - nitro - 4 - quinazoline, 2 - p - toluylmethyl - 4 - quinazolone, 2 - a - furoylmethyl - 4 - quinazoline and 2-carbethoxymethyl - 5 : 6 - benz - 4 - quinazolone are similarly prepared. 4 - Quinazolone - 2 - acethydrazide is prepared by boiling together 2-carbethoxymethyl-4-quinazolone and hydrazine in ethyl alcohol. o - Hexadecylsuccin - 4 - quinazolone - 2-acethydrazide is prepared by refluxing together 4 - quinazolone - 2 - acethydrazide and hexadecylsuccinic acid anhydride in dioxane. 4 - Quinazolone - 2 - methylhydroxamic acid is prepared by refluxing together hydroxylamine hydrochloride, sodium ethoxide, and 2-carbethoxymethyl - 4 - quinazolone in ethyl alcohol. 2 - Carbethoxy - 7 - amino - 4 - quinazolone is prepared by reducing 2-carbethoxy-7-nitro-4-quinazolone dissolved in ethyl alcohol with hydrogen in presence of Raney nickel. 2 - Acetonyl-4-quinazolone is prepared by heating acetoacetylanthranilamide with aqueous sodium hydroxide and neutralizing with acetic acid. Acetoacetylanthranilamide is prepared by heating anthranilamide with diketene in chloroform. Hexadecenylsuccinic anhydride is prepared by heating together n-hexadecene and maleic anhydride in an autoclave. Hexadecylsuccinic anhydride is prepared by reducing n-hexadecenylsuccinic anhydride dissolved in ethyl acetate with hydrogen under pressure in the presence of Raney nickel or platinum oxide.
