[Class 2 (v)] [Also in Groups IV (c) and VIII] Woollen textiles are shrunk and mothproofed by means of a composition comprising an aqueous solution of an alkylated methylol melamine in which is dispersed or dissolved a fluoride or silico fluoride. Suitable resins are ethylated or butylated methylol melamines, but methylated methylol melamine prepared by treating methylol melamine containing oxalic acid is preferred. The insecticide may be sodium or calcium fluoride or sodium or triethanolamine silicofluoride. In the examples: (1) wool flannel is treated with an aqueous solution containing triethanolamine silicofluoride and methylated methylol melamine, and in (2) calcium and sodium fluorides and sodium silico fluorides are used.
