Zusammenfassung:642,497. Stud and socket fastenings. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Aug. 5, 1948, No. 20726. Convention date, Aug. 8, 1947. [Class 44] In a stud and socket fastening for securing apertured sheets together the socket comprises a cage in which is shiftably retained a stud engaging unit consisting of an elongated arched plate formed with an aperture and slots to pass the arms of the stud. Figs. 5 and 4 show the fastening in sections at right angles and Fig. 5 shows the socket plate 16 and a separate spring stud ejecting plate 20. The cage 11 is formed by two upstanding walls 13 with overturned flanges 14 mounted on a base 12 secured by rivets 15 to one of the parts to be fastened. The stud 5 is adapted to pass through an aperture 12a in the base 12 and another 17 in the plate 16, the arms 8 passing through slots 18. When the stud is turned the arms ride over the inclined cam surface 19 of the plate and rest against stops 25 bent up from the plate. The plate may be made of springy material to provide a resilient connection, or of unyielding material to provide a rigid connection. Located on the stops 25 is a spring plate 20 resting under the flanges 14 and adapted to be deflected by insertion of the stud. This plate ejects the stud when released by downward pressure on the arms 8.
