[Class 38 (i)] A fuse for mounting in an oil-filled casing of a transformer &c. comprises a metal housing 17 with insulating extensions 18 fitted in an insulating porcelain &c. bush 26 in a support 15. The bush is formed with an enlargement 31 that rests on the support and is covered at its lower end by a split collar 29, the whole being clamped between a flange 28 attached to the housing 17 and a nut 32 screwing on the housing, gaskets 30, 34 being interposed. The fuse element 21 has a central fusible portion 22 located on the axis of the housing 17 the end conductors 20 being clamped at diametrically opposite points to terminals 24 on rings 19, to which the leads 25 are independently secured. Tension springs of a helical or bow shape may be associated with the conductors 20. Spring wires 35 attached to the fuse element contact with the housing 17 and prevent a difference of potential being set up. |
