Zusammenfassung:	A method for operating a smart mobile device. The method includes checking for or ascertaining the presence of a device known to the mobile device by way of a radio module in a locked state of the mobile device, in which manual access to the data content thereof is disabled. In the event that the presence of the known device is detected, an ultra-wideband radio connection is used to ascertain whether the known device is within a predefined distance from the mobile device. The locked state of the mobile device is canceled if the known device is within the predefined distance.
