Zusammenfassung:	A network interface controller may include a transceiver coupled to a transmit buffer to send messages via a communications medium and coupled to a receive buffer to store messages received via the communications medium, each of said messages including a source field containing a media access control (MAC) address. A network node may include a network interface controller coupled to the transceiver to implement a network communications protocol for conveying the messages via the communications medium, the network interface controller being configured to dynamically determine a locally unique MAC address for the network interface.
