According to the present disclosure, a method performed by a terminal may comprise the steps of: receiving an RRC message, including information on one or more BFD sets, from a base station; identifying whether beam failure is detected for one or more reference signals included in the one or more BFD sets; when beam failure is detected for at least one of the one or more BFD sets, identifying at least one candidate beam reference signal on the basis of a candidate beam set associated with the BFD sets for which beam failure is detected; and transmitting a BFR request message including information about the at least one candidate beam reference signal.
