The light seal can include an identification feature detected by the sensor. In one example, the HMD includes a display screen configured to display a confirmatory image and the light seal can include a unique visual component corresponding to the confirmatory image. In another example, the HMD can include an optical lens connection feature and the sensor can detect a depth of the light seal.
