METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING INFORMATION ABOUT AN ARTERIAL PROPERTY OF A SUBJECT

According to an aspect, there is provided a method for determining information about an arterial property of an artery of a subject. The method comprises generating (103) volume oscillations at a first oscillation frequency in a first cuff that is at a first location on a limb of the subject, wherein the volume oscillations are generated at a plurality of cuff pressures in the first cuff; measuring (105) the pressure in the first cuff during the generation of the volume oscillations to produce a first cuff pressure signal; determining (107) first arterial volume responses representing a volume response of the artery to the volume oscillations at respective cuff pressures using dVart=(Pcuff−Pabs)*Ccuff−dVosc, where dVart is the first arterial volume response, Pcuff is the first cuff pressure signal, Pabs is respective cuff pressure in the first cuff, Ccuff is the cuff compliance of the first cuff and dVosc is a signal representing the change in volume in the cuff due to the generated volume oscillations; and determining (109) the information about the arterial property of the subject from the first arterial volume responses.
