Zusammenfassung:	Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The method may include the user equipment (UE) selecting, based at least in part on an operating characteristic for the UE, a procedure for entering a sleep mode from among a set of procedures for entering the sleep mode. The set of procedure may include a first procedure and a second procedure. Upon selecting the procedure, the UE may monitor for page signaling for the UE during a time period and perform the selected procedure for entering the sleep mode.
