Zusammenfassung:The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting higher data transmission rates than 4G communication systems such as LTE systems. A method performed by a receiving apparatus in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes receiving reference signals from a transmitting apparatus, estimating respective channel component values of the reference signals, determining whether at least one reference channel component value which is equal to or greater than a first threshold is present among the channel component values of the reference signals, selecting a candidate beam based on the at least one reference channel component value in case that the at least one reference channel component value is present, determining whether a value of signal quality of the first candidate beam is equal to or greater than a second threshold, and selecting the candidate beam as a final beam in case that the value of signal quality of the candidate beam is equal to or greater than the second threshold.
