The system is configured to be locked in place over a stairway of a retracted bleacher system in order to prevent climbing of the stairway when the bleacher system is in a retracted state. Certain embodiments are configured to accommodate handrails of the bleacher system so that handrails do not have to be removed from the stairwell when the bleacher system is in a retracted state.
