Zusammenfassung:	A backlight module and a liquid crystal display device are provided. The backlight module includes a first optical element which can switch between a transparent state and a scattering state, first light sources, and a light-shielding layer disposed on a light path of light emitted from the first light sources to a liquid crystal display panel. The light-shielding layer includes a plurality of gratings arranged at intervals, each of the gratings is made of a light-shielding material, and one light transmission gap is formed between any two adjacent gratings, thereby improving uniformity of backlight.
