Zusammenfassung:	An energy storage device for a motor vehicle includes a plurality of round cells for electrochemically storing energy, and a storage housing in which the plurality of round cells is provided. In the installed position, the round cells run substantially parallel to the vehicle transverse axis. The round cells are arranged within the storage housing in multiple layers in the direction of the vehicle vertical axis, wherein the number of layers varies in the direction of the vehicle longitudinal axis.
