Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to an in vitro or ex vivo method for differentially diagnosing a bipolar disorder and a major depressive disorder in a human patient in a need thereof presenting depressive symptoms, comprising the following steps: providing a biological sample from said patient; determining, from said biological sample, the abundance of at least one of the following cytokines TNF-α, IFN-γ, IL-6, IL-10, IL-12p40, IL-15, IL-16, IL-17A and IL-27; and diagnosing a bipolar disorder or a major depressive disorder from the determination of the abundance of the at least one of the following cytokines TNF-α, IFN-γ, IL-6, IL-10, IL-12p40, IL-15, IL-16, IL-17A and IL-27.
