Zusammenfassung:A process for pairing two aircraft together to save fuel. After evaluating whether two aircraft may possibly be paired together in a formation for fuel savings, the process determines a new flight plan for the second, or follower, aircraft wherein the second aircraft flies behind the first aircraft to take advantage of the energy of the wake vortices generated by the first aircraft. Based on the new flight plan, the process determines if there is a trip fuel savings for a follower aircraft, and thus the pair.
