An example method comprises: receiving, by a software provisioning agent residing in a trusted execution environment (TEE) of a host computer system, a software provisioning command initiated by a software provisioning controller, wherein the software provisioning command identifies a target software application; receiving a file associated with the target software application; and performing, using the file, a software provisioning operation with respect to the target software application.
