The shear component extends over one or more areas of the inner surface of the helmet and has an outer surface removably coupled to the inner surface of the helmet. The shear component has a distal inner surface configured to contact a wearer's head, or to support and retain a separate comfort pad configured to contact the wearer's head. In response to an oblique impact to the helmet, the shear component undergoes internal shear to allow displacement between the helmet and the wearer's head. |
