Zusammenfassung:	Disclosed is a system and method of treatment which provides a direct response to the treatment of pneumonia as related to infections using a powder comprising a polyiodide resin with broad spectrum bactericidal, fungicidal and virucidal properties. When the powder is applied directly to the lungs of a mammal an immediate contact kill of protozoa, bacteria, fungi and viruses that cause respiratory tract infections affecting the lungs of a mammal takes place. Also disclosed is an application of the polyiodide resin powder for use with personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to face masks, face shields, and respirators.
