Water-based compositions comprised of acrylic polymer, resins, and/or plasticizer, after curing, provide improved vibration damping to solid substrates. Such substrates include the metal surfaces of passenger and commercial vehicles. Resins and plasticizers which provide superior and unexpectedly high vibration damping are disclosed.
