In order for the temperature of a gaseous or liquid medium to be exactly set and kept constant in spite of strong flow rate and pressure oscillations of the medium, the conditioning unit (3) is operated in a control to maintain a predetermined setpoint temperature (Tsoll) of the medium, wherein a control variable (Y) for the control of the conditioning unit (3) is composed of a model part (A), which calculates the power (Pv) required for the temperature control of the medium in the conditioning unit (3), and a control part (R), which corrects the power (Pv) calculated by means of the model part (A), wherein a control error (F) based on the setpoint temperature (Tsoll) and an actual temperature (Tist) is introduced in an exponential form into the control part (R).
