In some embodiments, the repair apparatus comprises elastomer seal rings that expand between an apparatus internal metal sleeve and the inner diameter of the pipe. The mechanical pressure exerted by the elastomer rings is such that the apparatus contains the internal fluid, as well as prevents ingress of external fluid when the pipeline is submerged.
