In an embodiment, a method includes the steps of receiving a shipment request including an origin date and a time, gathering carrier configuration data containing one or more of last trailer pull times, pickup inclusion or exclusion dates, transit inclusion or exclusion dates, and carrier delivery inclusion or exclusion dates, and returning the lowest cost carrier service that will meet the customer commitment time.
