Zusammenfassung:	An engine control apparatus and an engine control method are provided. The engine control apparatus includes an accelerator pedal position sensor that measures a position of an accelerator pedal in response to an operation of the accelerator pedal. Additionally, a vehicle controller verifies whether a driver demand torque is equal to or greater than a current engine torque when the position of the accelerator pedal is deviated from a reference position while an engine is operated in a part load mode and determines whether to permit a transition of an engine mode of the engine to a full load mode. An engine controller then transitions the engine mode to the full load mode from the part load mode in response to a control of the vehicle controller.
