Zusammenfassung:	An oxygen coating composition comprising a hydrogel matrix and oxygen containing cells that are non-uniformly distributed in the matrix, wherein the oxygen containing cells include a superabsorbent polymer and an oxygen catalyst is provided. A method of making an oxygen coating composition is also provided. The method includes polymerizing a superabsorbent polymer and an oxygen catalyst to form a sheet; dehydrating the sheet; pulverizing the sheet to form a superabsorbent polymer/oxygen catalyst powder; and combining the powder with a film forming polymer to form a hydrogel matrix in which the powder is dispersed is also provided. The particular components and arrangement of the oxygen coating composition can improve the shelf life and stability of the coating composition, and the method by which the composition is made can be part of a continuous process rather than a batch type process.
