Zusammenfassung:There is provided a single stranded oligonucleotide having a 5′ end and a 3′ end, said oligonucleotide comprising a first and second section, the first section being positioned 5′ of the second section; and wherein (i) the first section is labelled with at least two detectable labels and is capable of hybridising to a target polynucleotide; and (ii) the second section is not capable of hybridising to a target polynucleotide; said second section comprising a stem-loop structure comprising a first portion, a second portion and a third portion and wherein the second portion is located between the first and third portions, and the first and third portions are complementary to each other. There is also provided a method of detecting the presence of a target polynucleotide and/or sequence variations within a target polynucleotide using such an oligonucleotide.
