A personal care device comprising a main housing 2, a hair-cutting module 3 being displaceable with respect to the main housing against spring force in a direction parallel to a main axis 11, and a sensor 15 comprising a first sensor unit 16 connected to the main housing and a second sensor unit 17 connected to the hair-cutting module, wherein the sensor is configured to detect a displacement of the second sensor unit connected to the hair-cutting module with respect to the first sensor unit connected to the main housing in a direction parallel to the main axis. The hair-cutting module is tiltable with respect to the main housing about at least one tilt axis 13 extending perpendicularly to the main axis. The first sensor unit is arranged in at least a first and a second location relative to the main housing, and the second sensor unit is arranged in at least a third and a fourth location relative to the hair-cutting module, adjacent to, respectively, the first and the second location seen in directions parallel to the main axis. A distance between the first and the second location is at least 25% of a distance between the first and the third location, and during tilting of the hair-cutting module with respect to the main housing a change in distance between the first and the third location is different from a change in distance between the second and the fourth location.
