The at least one elongate capacitive sensor is arranged to extend over an area of the trim panel. The capacitive sensing system also includes a controller coupled to the at least one elongate capacitive sensor for monitoring changes in a capacitance value of the at least one elongate capacitive sensor, with the capacitance value changing when an obstacle approaches the area.
