Zusammenfassung:	In a building automation system, a method for automating a building includes a step of acquiring at least one data time history from a sensor or from a meter. The data time history is averaged and the averaged data time history is fitted into at least one occupancy pattern. The occupancy pattern covers a given time span. At least one set point is determined from the occupancy pattern and the at least one set point is fed into a system for heating, ventilation, and/or air-conditioning. In the novel system the at least one data time history is acquired from an element of standard infrastructure.
