Zusammenfassung:	Embodiments relate to synchronizing Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) leave processing in a system. One embodiment includes a system with a first access switch, a first virtual switch having a first timer, and a second virtual switch having a second timer. The first virtual switch and the second virtual switch are connected with the first access switch. The first access switch transmits an IGMP leave message to the first virtual switch. The first virtual switch transmits a synchronization message to the second virtual switch. The second virtual switch updates the second timer based on receiving the synchronization message.
