Zusammenfassung:A network monitoring system for a multimode optical data network includes a filter based splitter and an avalanche photodiode detector-based detection subsystem. The system takes a very small amount of the energy from the main data stream to use as monitoring data signal. The filter based splitter operates in a manner that is fairly uniform among modes and permits very low energy levels to be diverted for monitoring without disrupting either the main or monitor data streams for any modes.
