The ceramic honeycomb substrate has cell walls provided along a longitudinal direction of the ceramic honeycomb substrate to define cells through which fluid is to pass and which have a fluid inlet end and a fluid outlet end opposite to the fluid inlet end along the longitudinal direction. The cells include first cells and second cells. The auxiliary filter layer is provided on first surfaces of first cell walls of the first cells.
