The image display apparatus includes a display configured to display a chat window and to display input conversation content in the chat window, a communication unit configured to receive direction information and distance information of one or more other users, and a controller configured to control display of an object indicating location information including at least one of direction information and distance information of the one or more other users in the chat window. Accordingly, it is possible to increase user convenience.
