Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to processes for producing protective colloid-stabilized polymers based on (meth)acrylate esters in the form of their aqueous dispersions and water-redispersible polymer powders by means of free-radically initiated emulsion polymerization of one or more monomers from the group consisting of the esters of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid and optionally one or more further monomers which are copolymerizable therewith, in the presence of one or more protective colloids, and optionally drying of the resulting aqueous dispersion, characterized in that the emulsion polymerization is carried out in the presence of one or more fully hydrolysed 1-alkylvinyl ester-vinyl ester copolymers as protective colloid.
