Zusammenfassung:	A data processing apparatus includes a reception unit, a processor, a storage controller and a reception controller. The reception unit checks for an e-mail sent to the apparatus at a predetermined time interval, and, when the e-mail sent to the apparatus exists, receives the e-mail. The processor performs processing in accordance with a command when the received e-mail includes the command. The storage controller stores a receipt time of the e-mail including the command on a storage unit. The reception controller makes an interval between the checks of e-mails shorter than the predetermined time interval at and within a predetermined time before and after a time corresponding to the receipt time stored in the storage unit.
