The present invention provides a method for selecting or evaluating a hair growth control agent, including the steps of administering a test substance to a cell capable of expressing DnaJC6; measuring the expression of DnaJC6 in the cell; and evaluating the controlling effect of the test substance on hair growth based on the expression. The present invention also provides a hair growth suppression agent containing funabarasou (Cynanchum atratum) or its extract as the active ingredient.
