Zusammenfassung:	Architecture that enables interactive navigation and view selection in digital cartography. Multiple mapping views (or zoom levels) can be presented concurrently in a map area of the display. The mapping views are located and presented in relation to a fixed position of the display for interactive selection (e.g., on touch screens). A center area of the map area includes a primary view for presentation of a portion of a map, and one or more secondary areas (on the periphery of the center area) that present one or multiple secondary views. Note that the primary and secondary views differentiate the amount of map details presented. For example, the primary view can show more detailed cartographic data while the secondary view(s) show less detail, but a greater amount of cartographic data for the geographical region surrounding the primary view.
