The present invention relates to a process for preparing 1-O-acyl-2-deoxy-2-fluoro-4-thio- -D-arabinofuranoses having formula I and intermediates thereof: wherein R1 represents -C(O)-C1-C6-alkyl or -C(O)-aryl; and R2 represents C1-C6-alkyl, C1-C4-perfluoroalkyl or aryl.
