The actuation judgment apparatus may comprise an integrator for integrating the horizontal acceleration and a judgment circuit in a main control unit is configured to change a threshold for the actuation of the passenger protection device based on a value obtained by integrating the horizontal acceleration at the integrator in order to reduce the error rate in assessing that a trip-over event has occurred.
