Zusammenfassung:Provided is an apparatus and method for extracting a direction of an image in a portable terminal without using a sensor for extracting direction information of a captured image. An apparatus for extracting direction information of an image in a portable terminal includes a camera unit and a control unit, wherein the control unit extracts a detection direction of an object from the captured image as direction information, and stores the captured image together with the extracted direction information for a subsequent display of the captured image in a normal direction.
