Zusammenfassung:	An approach is presented for activating a device. The activation platform receives a request to make a device operable, wherein the device is in an inoperable state because one or more components for operating the device are absent from the device. Further, the activation platform, in response to the request, validates an authenticity of the device based, at least in part, on one or more identifiers associated with the device. Then, the activation platform retrieves the components. Then, the activation platform causes, at least in part, transfer of the components to the device to make the device operable.
