Pipettes

An actuating system 300 is provided for actuating a plurality of pipettes 1 comprising a bellows portion 13. The actuating system comprises means 360 for receiving the plurality of pipettes and an actuator 320. The receiving means 360 and the actuator 160 are reciprocable relative to one another to compress or decompress the bellows portions of pipettes received in the receiving means in use. The receiving means 360 comprises a plurality of pipette receiving parts in the form of clips 140 each configured to receive a respective pipette having a bellows piece 5 and a dispensing piece 3, wherein each pipette receiving part 140 is arranged to cooperate with the dispensing piece 3 of a respective pipette to mount the pipette to the actuating system. The actuating system further comprises locating means in the form of a guide plate 160 to help maintain alignment of the pipette in use, the locating means cooperating with the bellows piece 5 of each pipette.
