GUIDE WIRE

[Object] To provide a guide wire capable of obtaining excellent reshapability, while securing sufficient flexibility, at a distal part thereof. [Solving Means] The guide wire 1 has a wire body 10 including a first wire 2 disposed on the distal side and a second wire 4 joined to the proximal end of the first wire 2, and a helical coil 5 is disposed at a distal part of the wire body 10. The first wire 2 includes a reshapable section 3, a transition section 27, a distal-side constant outer diameter section 26, a first tapered section 22, a constant outer diameter section 21, a second tapered section 23 and a large diameter section 24, in this order from the distal end side. The reshapable section 3 is plate-like in shape, and is used in the state of being deformed into a desired shape (in a reshaped state). The reshapable section 3 is provided in its upper surface with five grooves 31a to 35a extending in the plate width direction of the reshapable section 3 and located at intervals along the longitudinal direction of the reshapable section 3. Of the reshapable section 3, the portion where the grooves 31a to 35a are formed is more susceptible to plastic deformation than the other part.
