The composition is a gel that maintains contact with a portion of an oral cavity for an extended period of time to, for example, retard plaque and calculus buildup. The system includes a composition and a container encapsulating the composition. The composition is applied by rupturing the container and applying the composition through the ruptured portion of the container.
